Alabama Football Preseason No. 1

| July 20, 2013 | 0 Comments

It is never a question whether the Alabama Crimson Tide will  have a good football team. It is simply a question of how good a football team the Crimson will put on the field. As he does every, year, Nick Saban has surrounded himself with future NFL players, 16 of who are already projected to make the SEC All-Star team at the end of the season. This team is loaded on both sides of the ball and has the added benefit of hosting 8 of its 12 regular season games.

Of special interest are homes games against annual rival LSU on November 9, 2013. That game could well decide the frontrunner heading into the postseason. This year Auburn may present the biggest challenge for Saban’s troops. The Tide will head to Auburn for the regular season finale on November 30, 2013.

Alabama will host Virginia Tech on August 31st in the season opener for both teams. Other home games include Ole Miss (09-28-13), Colorado State (09-21-13), Georgia State (10-05-12), Kentucky (10-12-13), Arkansas (10-12-13), spunky Tennessee (10-26-13) and Chattanooga (11-23-13). Tickets are in demand but act now and see the Alabama juggernaut try to defend its national title.

Alabama’s lineup is dotted with potential All-Americans. C.J. Mosley, T.J. Yeldon, Amari Cooper, Cyrus Kouandjio, Anthony Steen, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Deion Belue are all first-team SEC players and look like viable candidates to play on Sunday in the near future. These holdovers from last year’s team that humbled number 2, Notre Dame, in the National Championship game want to garner yet another championship. At Alabama, it is a given the team will be in the hunt every season but hopes are even higher that this team has the right talent and chemistry to go all the way.

Senior, All American linebacker C.J. Mosley will anchor a strong defense that has talent and speed at every position. They practice against an offensive line that rivals the size of most NFL teams. Running back TJ Yeldon and wide receiver Amari Cooper will spark an offense that has big point potential and can score on the ground or in the air.

Alabama offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio and guard Anthony Steen will head a line that will protect senior quarterback AJ McCaron who never looks flashy but simply wins games. An underrated passer, McCarron will enjoy his best season on what may be the best team that has ever played in Tuscaloosa.

If the pollsters have it right, Alabama should be undefeated by the end of the regular season. The team gathered 252 first place votes in the preseason poll to win the SEC. Second place Texas A&M received just 11 first place votes.

As usual, Saban has recruited a few sensational freshmen. This should be a happy season in Tuscaloosa. Make plans to get to a game today.
